Florida principal billed with Point out Farm insurance policies fraud

Florida principal charged with State Farm insurance fraud

A Florida elementary school professor has been accused of trying to scam his insurance policy carrier for $16,000 in the wake of Hurricane Irma.

Darrell Perry, principal of Jacksonville’s Timucuan Elementary Faculty, was arrested on suspicion of seeking to defraud Point out Farm Insurance, according to a report by News4Jax. The Duval County, Fla., school procedure has reassigned Perry to an off-campus position pending the final result of the investigation.

Florida’s chief financial officer, Jimmy Patronis, reported that in the wake of the 2017 hurricane, Perry sought $16,000 in reimbursements from Point out Farm for property repairs. Nevertheless, two invoices he submitted had been allegedly altered, even though a third was completely fabricated.

“He had legitimate promises with Point out Farm Insurance policies, but then what he also did is he started altering repair invoices and essentially created some outright completely bogus invoices,” Patronis advised Information4Jax.

A spokesperson for Patronis’s office environment explained that Perry, who at initial refused to cooperate with investigators, afterwards confessed to the fraud.

“Insurance fraud normally takes dollars from Florida families with legit promises and drives up insurance charges for us all,” Patronis mentioned.

If convicted, Perry faces up to five a long time in jail.
